Today's post is in honor of my sister who was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy several years ago and in loving memory of our two brothers who passed way too early ~ at 20 and 42. It's quite ironic that I go for my recheck today making sure nothing has changed these past three years. Ladies, I urge you to listen to your bodies and get checked before it's too late.

Yesterday was my first "PARTY" of the New Year and here are the cards my ladies made ~ hope you enjoy!

Above is "my version" of a card my upline, Karen, made for her swap for Leadership. I added the little red heart and rhinestone jewel to put on the inside of the heart.
Another Leadership swap that I changed up by using different Designer Series Paper and ribbon. This stamp is out of the Easy Events stamp set featured in the 2011-12 IB&C on page 57.

The Fresh Vintage Stamp Set featured in the SALE-A-BRATION catalog is one of my favorites! I love how the Twitterpated DSP coordinates so well. This set can be yours FREE for placing a $50 merchandise order directly from my SU Website, shirleybmckay.stampinup.net.

VALENTINE cards don't have to be red, pink, white and black ~ Sandy Holleman created this card using blues and pinks. I love the detail!

A closer view of the new 3/8" Pleated Satin Ribbon featured in the Occasions Mini Catalog. The ribbon also comes in Pear Pizzazz, Riding Hood Red and Baja Breeze.
The CANDY CONVERSATIONS stamp set was used in this more traditional Valentine card made by Amy.

Unfortunately there was no name on this card so I can't give the designer credit. Whoever made this card stepped out of her box using a variety of colors for her Valentine card. The P.S. I Love You stamp set was used along with the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper. Both items can be found in the Occasions Mini Catalog.

Stampin'Up! 2012 LEADERSHIP

I returned home yesterday after spending four awesome days in San Antonio attending their Leadership and Regional Events. The theme for this years Leadership Event was "My Way". As was stated during one of the sessions, it isn't knowing what to do....it's doing what you know.

Here are just a few of the freebies Leadership attendees were given. I'll have more items to share tomorrow when Sale-A-Bration begins! (Doing the happy dance!)

One of the highlights of Leadership was meeting for the first time my up, up-line, Julie Gunhus from Washington State. She has always been an inspiration but there's nothing like getting to meet her and her sharing ideas with me. So here we are from left to right: Sue, my sister: JULIE; Karen, my up-line and me.

Thanks for joining me ~ I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I'm sharing with you today a really easy card. In fact, it's one that I'm making about 75 of for swaps at Stampin'Up!'s Leadership and Regional Events coming up later this month in San Antonio.

For the base of the card I used CALYPSO CORAL, an In Color for 2011-2013, layered with BERRY BLOSSOMS DSP and Whisper White card stock. I used LUCKY LIMEADE for the leaf and trim.

Just wanted to show you how a little touch (by adding the leaf) adds so much to your card.

Here's the entire card front. Other items used: The Big Shot, Tasteful Trim Big XL Die, Floral Fusion Sizzlit Die, Bird Builder Punch, Gold Brads, Sincere Salutations Stamp Set. Stampin'Up! THREE LITTLE WORDS Valentine Card

I've got two Valentine camps coming up this week so I've been playing around trying to decide which cards my ladies will be doing. My share today uses the THREE LITTLE WORDS stamp set. In addition to the i love you sentiment, this set also includes so very sorry, i miss you, thanks so much, you-you-you and thinking of you. This set is very versatile and is available only in the wood mount for $13.95.

For the base of the card, I used Basic Black card stock, topped with Whisper White which I ran through the Big Shot using one of the Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates. The hearts are made using Cherry Cobbler card stock and the Fashionable Hearts Embosslits Die featured in the new Occasions Mini Catalog. The Occasions Mini goes live tomorrow and has some awesome new products featured. Be sure to go to my Stampin'Up! website, shirleybmckay.stampinup.net to preview.
Now for a little inspiration other than card making....I decorated my bathroom in my stamping area with frogs. You may have seen the towels, mats, trash can and the other things at Wal-Mart. I was so tickled when I ran across the frog decor because it reminded me of a story that I read a long time ago. A lady (I can't even remember where she was from), always carried with her little ceramic frogs and when she would cross paths with someone going through tough times, she would give them a frog and tell them that no matter what their circumstances, they needed to "fully rely on GOD". Well I've never forgotten that little story so the above picture is what my friend, Christy, and I came up with to hang on the bathroom wall. Now it's not perfect by any means but I do hope my stamping ladies will remember the FROG when they face challenges in their lives.

Stampin'Up! HOLIDAY STOCKING Bigz L Die

BEST WISHES TO YOU AND YOURS FOR A HEALTHY & PROSPEROUS

I have one last Christmas idea to share with you today.....a money holder using the HOLIDAY STOCKING Bigz L Die featured in Stampin'Up!'s Holiday Mini Catalog. Our kids are at the age that we never know what to buy them so for the past few years we have given them money so they can purchase whatever they want. Below is the money holder I made for our son and SIL using Real Red card stock and Mocha Morning Specialty designer series paper.
Here's the one designed for our daughter using the Silver Glimmer Paper and Real Red card stock. (Note: the ribbon used for the bow is not Stampin'Up!)

In order for the "check" not to fall all the way into the foot of the stocking, I cut a piece of card stock and folded it in the middle (see below).

I folded the check and put it in the folded insert leaving about 1/4" of the insert showing at the top of the stocking so they could remove their money.

Stampin'Up! LOVELY AS A TREE & TAGS TIL CHRISTMAS Stamp Sets

My final Christmas card share for the year was made by Doris D. Doris used the LOVELY AS A TREE stamp set to make the branches and the ornament is out of the TAGS TIL CHRISTMAS set. The traditional Christmas colors are so perfect for this card.

Stampin'Up!'s Retired FROSTY

Even though FROSTY is retired, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that continues to hold on to him. Renda T., who held a monthly club while I was in the Carolinas, designed and sent us this card. I love it!

A closer view of FROSTY! Personally I don't think there's been another snowman as cute since he retired.

One thing I love about being a Stampin'Up! demonstrator is the friendships we make. . . and that's how I met Renda. A mutual friend of ours just happened to invite her to one of her camps and the rest is history. Thank you Renda for the holiday wishes ~ I miss you!

Another CHRISTMAS CARD Share

Ginger E., one of my monthly stampers while in the Carolinas, sent us this beautiful card. Cherry Cobbler card stock from Stampin'Up! was used for the base. I'm not familiar with the other items used but I do love the color combination.

Stampin'Up! CHRISTMAS LODGE Stamp Set

Another CHRISTMAS LODGE share....received from my friend and downline, Donna S. Donna used the Big Shot and Top Note Die on her card. You'll notice how she sponged around the edges to add a bit of texture. This picture does not do this card justice. Donna used glitter on the trees and roof top which made the card pop!

Here's a closer view of the lodge which gives you a glimpse of some of the sparkle. Very pretty indeed!

Stampin'Up! MERRY (retired) Stamp Set

My share today is the Christmas card I made for our granddaughter. The Santa idea came from my downline, Michelle.

Santa is made using the Blossom Petals Builder Punch. Go to Michelle's blog, simplycrafted.blogspot.com, for more details on how to make him. Below is the inside of the card.

"MERRY" is another one of those stamp sets that I just can't part with but I must say this is the first card I've made using it in awhile. I especially love the sentiment ~ think of Christmas, think of snow, think of Santa, ho ho ho! You'll notice on the front of the card, I used the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder and sponged the embossed areas with Blushing Bride ink. Then to make the Santa stand out against the white background, I ran Brushed Silver card stock through the Big Shot using the Snowflakes Set #2 Sizzlit.

Stampin'Up! THE SOUNDING JOY Stamp Set

Today I'm sharing another card made at one of my "Christmas In July" classes using THE SOUNDING JOY stamp set. I cased this card from my upline, Karen H, and it's one of my favorites of all the cards made during these sessions.

And this past Sunday, our granddaughter was able to join us. She loves to get together with the stampin ladies!

It's really beginning to feel like Christmas here in TX ~ the high will be in the 50's today with 15-25 MPH winds ~ BURR

One of my friends back in the Carolinas' mother passed away so I'm sharing with you today the quick sympathy card I made for her using the ELEGANT LINES embossing folder.

I love the detail of this folder. You'll notice I added three Stampin'Up!' PEARL JEWELS. Once again, I think in 3s, 5s and 7s.

Stampin'Up! DAY of GRATITUDE Stamp Set

Four more days til Thanksgiving ..... here's another share from my fall occasions class this past week ....

I don't know about you but I love the POOL PARTY card stock. It is so beautiful and I can't imagine not using it any time of year! It coordinates so well with the SPICE CAKE designer series paper featured in the Holiday Mini Catalog. I used a stamp from the DAY of GRATITUDE stamp set for the background on the Pool Party paper. The leaf is made using the BIG SHOT and LEAVES #2 Die. I used a dauber to give the leaf some texture after crumbling it. Then I used the Hemp Twine for the bow. Other items used: Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Pear Pizzazz and Very Vanilla card stock; More Mustard Grosgrain Ribbon and the Scallop Trim Border Punch.

For the base of the card I used Elegant Eggplant topped with More Mustard and Whisper White card stock. I used the AUTUMN DAYS stamp set. Ink colors used: Perfect Plum, Crumb Cake, More Mustard and Garden Green. This card would also make a pretty "thinking of you" card as well.

Tuesdays' "Tea for Two".....

Today's share is another item I made for the Open House this past weekend in our neighborhood. It holds two tea bags! Wouldn't this, along with a pretty tea cup, be a great gift idea for those tea lovers in your life?

Tea bags slide nicely into the pockets on both sides. Once again, I used retired designer series paper.
Sunday, a week ago, I had my Christmas in July conti....Class. I was pleasantly surprised to be contacted earlier that week by Heather R., a stamper from FL, asking if she could attend. I was so glad to have her and hope if she's ever in the area again that we can get together to stamp. It was great hearing ideas of how things are done by her SU demonstrators in FL and I think she will probably take back some ideas she learned at my class. Stampin'Up! BIG SHOT and DIES

Super Sunday everyone ~ I hope you are enjoying your day and thanks for joining me! Today one of the ladies in our neighborhood is opening her house to several direct sale representatives and I was so pleased that she asked me to share my passion of Stampin'Up! For the event, I made a few things, two of which I'll show in this post. Trying to use up some retired designer series paper, I thought I'd make a couple of candy treats for Thanksgiving. So, I used my Big Shot along with the Scallop Circle #2 and Leaves #2 Dies. I cut one piece of DSP and one piece of solid card stock, using the Scallop Circle Die, and placed in between those two pieces a Ghirardelli chocolate. You'll notice two of the leaves have been crumpled to give some texture. I stamped GRATEFUL using the Falling Leaves stamp set on page 29 of the 2011/12 Idea Book & Catalog on the one leaf that was not crumpled.

Using that same paper (I had lots left over as you can tell) I covered Hershey candy bars and did basically the same thing with the Leaves #2 Die. I love the 1 1/4 Striped Grosgrain Ribbon used on these.
Once again, I used a stamp from the Falling Leaves stamp set.

I hope this has given you some ideas for Thanksgiving and ways to also use some of your retired paper. Things that I make to give away or sell, I try to use as much of the "old stuff" as possible to make room for some "new stuff". Have a blessed day and hope to see you back here soon!

Stampin'Up! PUNCHES

WOW .... I can't believe how long I've been away. Thanks for joining me today! I've got a lot of things to catch up on ~ most important and foremost, the 8th birthday of our one and only granddaughter. Below please see the birthday card I made for her special day. She is a girly girl so there can never be enough pink or bling. The bodice of the dress is made using the Round Tab punch, the neck is scooped out using the 1 1/4" Circle punch and the layers for the skirt are made using the Blossom Petals Builder punch. I used Vellum card stock, took a dauber and Pretty In Pink classic ink and tinted the petals for the skirt. I then layered the petals and added the Rhinestone Jewels for the bling.

Here's the inside of the card using the Easy Events stamp set featured on page 57 of the 2011/12 Idea Book & Catalog.

Well I just had to have a personalized stamp to use on the back of all her cards. See page 172 of the IB&C and order yours today.

OK, hope you won't get bored but just wanted to share some photos of her party. It was at .....

Laura and her guests had their hair done, makeup applied and fingernails polished.

Then they were off to change into their "diva" outfits. Laura is in black ~ next to one of her friends that's pointing to the screen at the other end of the room. The lights are about to go off, the disco light is about to come on and the music is about to begin. They are just before posing on the runway. Oh, they were something else but so cute!

So once the dancing was over, it was time to have cake and ice cream. Just love the decor in this place. Awesome!

And here's the gift bags you saw in an earlier post but didn't they look good? (even if I do say so myself)

OK, the cake and ice cream have been devoured and it's time now to ride around Katy in a limo. I'm a little envious being that I've never been in a limo. I'm old and she's only 8. What's wrong with this picture?

I'm sharing with you today the treat bags I designed for her "Diva Party" being held at Sugar & Spice in Katy. I can't wait to see what kind of goodies are going in the bags.

Below is a Halloween card that my sister, Sue, shared with me while in Charlotte. Isn't it so cute? If you've got a few SU punches, the possibilities are endless. The ghost and bat are made using the "owl" punch and she used the oval punch for the pumpkin.
I had such an awesome trip to the Carolinas and got to see lots of people I'd not seen since moving. It's time now to get back to some stamping and get those creative juices flowing.

For those of you who follow my blog, thanks for joining me today. Just to give you an update on where I've been and what I've been doing.....I'm currently in Charlotte. My husband's employer gave him (Ronnie) a surprise retirement party October 6th after 44 years of service. Since my September post, I've spent numerous hours going through a lifetime of photographs to put together a power point presentation for the evening. Thanks to my friend and neighbor, Christy, the presentation turned out fantastic. Shelley (our daughter) and I flew to Charlotte the afternoon of the dinner and we were picked up at the airport by our son, Eric. From the airport, we went straight to the restaurant. Now keep in mind, Ronnie had no idea of the party nor anything about Shelley and I being there. What a SURPRISE it was. We had a fabulous evening and one we won't soon forget. Here's Ronnie coming into the private room shaking hands with Randy (a former boss) being followed by Dave (another former boss who was responsible for getting Ronnie there). At this point, Ronnie has no clue Shelley and I are there.

Below is my sister and former SU co-hort, Sue (left) and me at Carrabbas having dinner last weekend.

And below are our sweet kids ~ Eric and Shelley. Even though we missed having our granddaughter and son-in-law in for the retirement festivities, it was great being with Shelley and Eric. They share such a special bond even though there's 7 years difference in their age.

Last weekend, Eric took us to the US National Whitewater Center here in Charlotte. None of us, even though we're native Carolinians, had been there except Eric. What a neat place. Even though I'm too old to partake in the activities, it's a great place just to go and enjoy the outdoors.

I'll be sharing some other things I'm doing throughout the upcoming week. Again thanks for your patience. I hope at some point to get back to blogging on a regular basis. Have a great Sunday.

Stampin'Up! CHRISTMAS Cards and More

Yesterday I mentioned that I would be sharing some photos that I failed to post this past week. So here goes.....
Below are the cards my ladies made at my Christmas in July conti....Class yesterday. They made two of each design.
Last week when I was soooo excited after seeing Dr. Maya Angelou here in Houston, I failed to include the program that we got that evening. That was an evening I will never forget ~ she is such an inspiration. For all my NC friends, I didn't realize until that evening that Maya resides in Winston Salem. If you ever have a chance to see her, by all means go!

Last but not least, I showed you last week the chocolate treats that I made to put in our neighborhood welcome baskets. What I failed to show was how I stamped directly on Stampin'Up! designer series paper. The houses are stamped in Chocolate Chip and the sentiment "Welcome to the Neighborhood" in Real Red. This set is retired but it's another one I just couldn't part with. Now I'm glad I have it!

Stampin'Up! HOLLY BERRY BOUQUET Designer Series Paper

Another weekend is about over; hard to believe how time flies particularly when you're having fun stamping. Right? I'm posting late today because I just finished my Christmas in July conti....Class and I didn't have time before Church to do my blog post. Here's the last of four designs my ladies made. See previous posts for the other three designs.
Yesterday was a busy day. One of my friends and fellow stampers, Christy, asked me and my granddaughter to join her at a craft show in Katy. Craft shows, as many of you know, are one of those things that are hit and miss. Well this one was defintely a "miss". Maybe because Stampin'Up! wasn't represented there (lol)?

Of course while we were out, we had to have lunch. Christy took us to the Tea Room ~ Laura and I had not been there and she thought Laura would love it ~ which she did. What a cute "girly girl" place. We'll definitely go back but on our next trip, I'd like to put a dress, hat and gloves on Laura. Love how she's holding the tea cup! Check out the pinky.....

And yes the cake balls were to die for. What a great day we had!

Stampin'Up! BEYOND THE GARDEN Designer Series Paper

Last night the Welcome Committee in our neighborhood got together to welcome 12 new residents. Below see the "chocolate treats" I made to put in the baskets. I was unable to attend so I left the treats at a neighbors house in my new THIRTY ONE insulated bag.

For the treats, I used BEYOND THE GARDEN DSP and chocolate chip card stock. I stamped "welcome to the neighborhood" in real red directly onto the DSP. I topped that with a red bow which made for a quick and easy treat. I slid my SU business card in the back of the sleeve in hopes that some of the new residents will be interested in stamping.
The reason I could not attend tonight's get together was that I went to "A Conversation with Dr. Maya Angelou" with my daughter, Shelley. Before going to see Dr. Angelou, we went to Ibiza for dinner. The presentation was lovely and the food was delicious.

Below Shelley and I are enjoying some adult conversation ~ kinda hard to do with the 7 year old granddaugther who is with us most of the time.

Then we were off to the "Conversaton with Dr. Maya Angelou" at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Houston (cameras were not permitted). Dr. Angelou's quote "when someone shows you who they are, believe them" changed Shelley's life back in the 90's so I'm so thankful she had this opportunity to see her up close and in person! I was so pleased that Shelley asked me to share the evening with her. Dr. Angelou opened the "conversation" with the song This Little Light of Mine, I'm Going to Let It Shine. She stressed the importance of being more than what you appear to be. Another thing Dr. Angelou pointed out .... COURAGE is not something you're born with, it's something that you have to develop. I had such a delightful evening sharing this experience with Shelley.

She's resides in NC but is in Houston today as part of the Brilliant Lecture Series. I am really excited to get to share this with Shelley.

Stampin'Up! STITCHED STOCKINGS Stamp Set

It's hard to get in the Christmas spirit when it's still so warm outside but gotta do it. My next Christmas in July conti...Class is this weekend. Below is one of the cards my ladies will be making.

I used the STITCHED STOCKINGS stamp set in the Holiday Mini Catalog along with the Stocking Builder Punch. Both can be seen on page 34. For the base of the card I used Cherry Cobbler and the holly DSP is out of the Holly Berry Bouquet pack and the plaid is from the Frostwood Lodge pack. You'll notice the white scallop is from the Flirtatious Specialty Paper. It's actually pumpkin pie on the back side but I turned it over and used the whisper white side. I can't believe it's Monday again ~ where did the weekend go? Tomorrow I'm having my first "Coffee and a Card" Class. This idea was shared by a fellow SU demonstrator so I'm anxious to see how it turns out. The ladies attending this class are new stampers so below is the card they will be making.

This stamp is out of the EASY EVENTS Set featured on page 57 of the 2011/12 Idea Book & Catalog. Below you'll see how I used Dimensionals to pop up the stamped image.

I don't know about you but I had a busy weekend .... the highlight of mine was the Ethan Bortnick Concert. He is one of the world's youngest philanthropists using his talents to express his desire to help people, especially children. Ethan, who is 10, a pianist, musician, composer and actor, was in Houston to raise money for the Texas Children's Hospital. Our daughter and son-in-law took care of all the arrangements and as you can imagine, our 7 year old granddaugther loved the performance. Stampin'Up! DELICATE DOILIES Stamp Set & FLIRTATIOUS Specialty Designer Series Paper

I'm just now getting around to using the DELICATE DOILIES stamp set and coordinating FLIRTATIOUS Specialty Designer Series Paper. Today's share is the card I came up with. A sentiment could easily be added to the front of the card; however, I think I'm going to use mine as note cards.

I'm hung up on using an uneven number of colors on a card. So to get that third color in, I pulled out the BIRD BUILDER Punch punching out a few leaves using Pear Pizzazz card stock. For you to see what a difference that third color makes, see the "plain card" below.

The FLIRTATIOUS Specialty Paper includes two doily laser-cut double-sided designs ~ 1 sheet Pumpkin Pie and 1 sheet Melon Mambo. The back-side is Whisper White.

Stampin'Up! CROSSES of HOPE Stamp Set

Well as you can see, I've been gone all weekend .... again! I don't know about you but I spent a lot of time reflecting this weekend and remember those we lost on September 11, 2001. It's hard to believe that 10 years later the war continues and we are still having to deal with loss of life as a result of that dreadful day. On my recent trip to the Carolinas, I got to see for the first time the flag quilt my sister, Sue, made to hang in her new stamping shack. What a reminder of the freedom we enjoy for those who enter.

Last night the Care Team at the church I am attending met. Here is a card I designed to send to those members who are in need of encouragement for whatever reason. You may notice I used retired designer series paper, Elegant Soiree. But what better way to use products that I can no longer demonstrate. Stampin'Up! BIG SHOT and SCALLOP DIE

I'm sharing with you today a quick tutorial on how to make the cookie monsters that I showed yesterday (see below post if you missed it). First of all I ran a piece of whisper white card stock through the Big Shot using the Scallop Die so you could see the contrast. You will not need to do this when you make your own because you will be able to see where on the Die to place your folded card stock.

Secondly, I cut a piece of card stock 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.

As you can see, I placed the yellow card stock across the Die leaving five scalloped edges across the top. This is how you get your fold rather than the edge being cut.

Lastly here is your finished product. Now you can leave how ever many scallops you'd like to at the top. I normally use uneven numbers just because that's how I am. But if you want a smaller fold, then use only three OR experiment to see just how many you like best.

Now wasn't that easy peesy? Remember that you can do this using most any Stampin'Up! Die. The Holiday Stocking Bigz L Die featured in the new Mini Holiday Catalog is a great one to use this technique on. Instead of just a flat stocking, you can make it into a card.

With my hubby being in town this past week, we have enjoyed doing things with our only granddaughter. She was anxious to take us to Texas Children's Hospital to show us the brick her Mom and Dad placed in her honor. This facility is so beautiful and has so much to offer to families of children needing medical assistance in the Katy/Houston area.

Every Friday night, my daughter and SIL plan a "family night". This past weekend we went bowling. Here is Laura and her BFF. We had such a fun time. I hope your weekend was fun and safe.

My sister, Sue, made this quilt for me and gave it to me last week while I was in Charlotte. She knows all too well how much I love and appreciate handmade gifts. Gotta love this Texas Star Quilt!

I did not notice until I got the quilt out to display but look at the note she put on the inside. It nearly brought tears to my eyes. I'm so thankful to share such a special bond with my her! Thank you Sue! and I love you too!

I'M BACK .... I haven't forgotten you .... I've just been on vacation. As many of you know, Stampin'Up! had a Regional in Charlotte, NC on Friday, 8/19/11. So when my hubby made my reservations, he thought I'd like to do some other things while there so I took a mini vacation. I've been in Charlotte since 8/15 and am returning home this morning (despite Hurricane Irene). It was great going back to my hometown to see my sister, Sue, plus a multitude of friends that I haven't seen since moving to TX in December.

The SU Regional was absolutely awesome. The best part of the Regional for me was that I finally got to meet Stampin'Up! CEO, Shelli Gardner. She is so delightful and her passion for stamping just radiates. I would hope that my customers also feel my passion for stamping.

Happy Sunday! Today I'm sharing with you my last of three Post It Note projects. I love the BERRY BLOSSOMS designer series paper ~ so cheerful.

For those who have not seen this idea, take a 4 x 6 picture frame and insert designer paper or a stamped image and decorate accordingly. So easy but yet such a great gift idea for those you want to give a little something to.

This uses the Big Shot, Top Note Die, On Board Chipbard, Sticky Pages, JUST ADD CAKE Designer Series Paper, Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon and Small Binder Clip. With that in mind, I am having a Post It Note Class tomorrow night to show my ladies three real simple gift ideas for those people on their Christmas list. This first project is one that's excellent to keep in your purse or in your car. I used Beyond The Garden Designer Series Paper on this particular one. Here's a look at the outside.

And the inside, has a pocket for receipts (or whatever) on the left side and two different size Post It Notes on the right side. I made a slot to insert the pen by using a piece of acrylic.

Stampin'Up! SEASON of JOY

Well I'm back today with the last of four cards made at my Christmas in July class. Once again this card features the SEASON OF JOY stamp set. I'm sure you've noticed, I'm not a professional photographer but this photo really does not do this card justice.

For the base of the card I used Very Vanilla, topped with Garden Green. The swirl background stamp is a retired stamp. Other SU products used: Season of Joy stamp set, Tasteful Trim Big XL Die, 1 3/4" Scallop Punch, 2 1/2" Circle Punch and Real Red card stock. The designer series paper is also retired but you could easily use the First Edition Specialty Paper featured on page 183 of the 2011/12 Idea Book & Catalog.

Stampin'Up! FABULOUS FLORETS

I'm so glad you joined me again today as I share with you my last of four cards featuring the FABULOUS FLORETS stamp set and embossing powder. The base of the card is Wild Washabi, topped with Whisper White that has been stamped in Elegant Eggplant and Daffodil Delight. I wanted to show the ladies how easy it is to make your own designer paper with a few stamps and some ink. The stem and leaves were partially embossed.

Later today I am having a Christmas in July class. Stay tuned for some Christmas card ideas. Between now and November, every month we'll make 8 Christmas cards which will total 40 handmade cards by the end of November. For me, it's much easier to do a few along and have that out of the way before the holiday kicks off at Thanksgiving.

Stampin'Up! FABULOUS FLORETS & BEYOND THE GARDEN Designer Series Paper

Happy Friday and welcome back to another card using Beyond the Garden designer series paper and the Fabulous Florets stamp set. This is my favorite out of the four cards my ladies did at the embossing class. For the base of the card and the cut out flower I used Melon Mambo card stock. To make the flower, instead of ink I used a versa mark pad to outline the flower, then topped that with black embossing powder and then I used the heat gun to set. I love the way the flower ties in with the Basic Black card stock used to back the other pieces on the card.

Wouldn't you say "the earth (definitely) laughs in flowers?

Today I'm sharing another card my ladies made at my Embossing Class last week....very simple, yet very pretty I think. The centers of the flowers and the solid pink flower have been embossed.

Our 7 year old granddaughter is very interested in stamping. Below she is getting the technique down pat before the ladies arrive for class. She doesn't miss many of my classes. Stampin'Up! FABULOUS FLORETS

Thanks for joining me today! Last week I had an Embossing Class and used the FABULOUS FLORETS Stamp Set, BEYOND THE GARDEN designer series paper and coordinating embossing powder all featured on page 22 and 23 of the Summer Mini Catalog.

The background of the card is Tangerine Tango, topped with Whisper White that's been run through the Big Shot using the Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates (114512) and then layered with Beyond the Garden designer series paper (122342). You'll notice in the photo above, the stem and flower have been cut out. The flower was embossed using the versa mark pad, Tangerine Tango embossing powder and heat gun.Above is another sample showing the stem stamped directly on the card stock topped with the embossed flower.

I found this particular inside verse at a "big store". I am on the Care Team at our church and unfortunately Stampin'Up! does not offer many stamps appropriate for what I need.

Stampin'Up! TRAVEL LOG Stamp Set

Thanks for joining me today.....since I last saw you I've had family visiting from TN and NC. It was great them being here BUT during that time I was unable to stamp (so unlike "The Daily Stamper", right?) I've been able to prepare a few things to share with you so I hope you'll stay tuned. I'm sharing with you today a card I made for our 7 year old granddaughter who went to NY for the first time in mid-June. This card uses the TRAVEL LOG stamp set featured in the Summer Mini Catalog. She is such a girly girl I just had to use pink.

You'll notice I used about every stamp in the set but I was very pleased at how the card turned out. She loved it too especially since we included a little spending $ for her. I took a long piece of Whisper White card stock, turned it up on the bottom edge and formed a pocket to put the money in.

You could also do the same and insert a gift card.

Stampin'Up! BOLD BLOSSOM Stamp Set and BLOSSOM BOUQUET TRIPLE LAYER PUNCH

Today's share is my last of six cards made at my "His/Her Class" earlier this month. All the female cards were made using the BOLD BLOSSOM stamp set. For this particular card, I used Daffodil Delight for the base, Chocolate Chip, Brights Pattern designer series paper, Very Vanilla and Pumpkin Pie cardstock. The sentiment "thank you for being you" is included in the Bold Blossom stamp set.

As I mentioned previously, the BOLD BLOSSOM set is currently in the Summer Mini Catalog but it's also being carried over to the new 2011/12 Idea Book & Catalog that comes out July 1st.

Stampin'Up! BLOSSOM BOUQUET & POSTAGE STAMP Punches

HAPPY FRIDAY! My post today is CASED from my upline, Karen H. I love the colors ~ Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White and Basic Black. As you can see, there's very little stamping on this card. With a few punches and some cardstock (from Stampin'Up! of course) just look what you can create.
Punches used ~ 1 1/4 and 1 3/8 square punches, the new postage stamp punch AND the blossom bouquet triple layer punch. For the center of the flowers, I used the 1/4 circle punch rather than a brad.

Stampin'Up! BOLD BLOSSOM Stamp Set and BLOSSOM BOUQUET TRIPLE LAYER PUNCH

Thank you for joining me! Today I'm sharing a card I CASED (copy and share everything) from my sister, Sue, using the BOLD BLOSSOM stamp set and BLOSSOM BOUQUET TRIPLE LAYER PUNCH. The base of the card is Very Vanilla, topped with Concord Crush and another layer of Very Vanilla. For the punched flowers I used Concord Crush, Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango. The stems are stamped using Pear Pizzazz ink. "Thinking of You" is out of the SINCERE SALUTATIONS stamp set. The sentiment was punched out using the DECORATIVE LABEL PUNCH.

Our granddaughter (left) had her dance recital this past Saturday. Last year she took a Hip-Hop class but she's decided to go back to tap and ballet next year.

Stampin'Up! BEST DAD EVER Stamp Set - Part 3

Today I'm sharing my last card using the Best Dad Ever stamp set. You'll notice the tie and sentiment are the only things used out of the set. How do you like the smear on the sleeve? Well that was an oops....but a reminder to me to put all my samples in the clear translucent envelopes to

keep this from happening during class.

This is a great card for most any occasion for those men in your life.

I used Very Vanilla for the base of the card, layered a piece of DSP out of the Woodland Walk pack, Early Espresso cardstock and the shirt is also made using the Woodland Walk DSP.

Stampin'Up! BEST DAD EVER Stamp Set - Part 2

Here's my second card using the BEST DAD EVER stamp set. I used Very Vanilla as the base, Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip cardstock and Elegant Soiree designer series paper. Having "new" stampers, I showed them how they could use the Stampin'Up! markers to ink the stamp. The BEST DAD EVER set is very versatile in that it includes these sentiments ~ Happy Father's Day, Thinking of You, Happy Birthday and Best Dad Ever. For an embellishment, I used a button and linen thread.

I have one more male card to show you....be on the lookout for it.

Stampin'Up! BEST DAD EVER Stamp Set ~ Part 1

This past Sunday I had a Class and my ladies made three male and three female cards. So for the male cards I used the BEST DAD EVER stamp set and for the female cards I used the BOLD BLOSSOM stamp set. Both sets are in the Summer Mini Catalog.

This card is made using Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black and Whisper White cardstock. The "unique" stamp is out of the DEFINE YOUR LIFE stamp set which retires the end of June.

As a SU Demonstrator, we receive our Idea Book & Catalogs early so we can prepare for July workshops. Well I received mine yesterday and once again I am amazed at the new stamp sets and accessories that are in it. The 2011-12 Idea Book & Catalog is absolutely beautiful "inside and out". I'm very excited to tell you that both the BEST DAD EVER and BOLD BLOSSOM sets made it to the big catty.

Stampin'Up! FUN FLOWER & TOP NOTE DIES

HAPPY SUNDAY and thank you for joining me today! I've been MIA the past week or so but wanted you to know that I will be posting as often as I can now that school is out. I feel very privileged to be keeping our 7 year old granddaughter every other week this summer. So I hope you will continue to follow my blog until I can get back on a more normal schedule.

I had four ladies purchase the Big Shot during my May Big Shot Promotion. Included in the Promotion was a FREE class to show them how to use the machine. Here is a card I designed for them to make. It's very hard to tell in the picture, but the Very Vanilla Top Note is layered with a piece of Vellum. If you'll look in the top left hand corner, you can see where I ran the Vellum through the Big Shot with an impressions plate to give it more texture. The flower, once cut out using the Fun Flowers die, was also run back through the Big Shot using the impressions plate. The leaves were cut using the Spring Stem Embosslit die. They also learned how to use the Embossing Folders and Sizzlit dies.

Today I'm painting....instead of stamping!

Earlier this week I went with several of the ladies in the neighborhool to Painting with a Twist. It was pre-arranged that we would do the "cracked star". Well here's how mine turned out. I was pretty pleased for it being my first time.

I was clueless as to what I was getting in to. When we arrived, the design was penciled in on the canvas. From that point, we mixed our paints and started applying. It was a 2 hour class and we left with our dried painting i hand. I plan to take our granddaughter back for her to let her creative juices flow. It was a very fun evening.

Here's my last page....the TRAVEL LOG stamp set was just perfect for these generic scrapbook pages. None of the ladies brought pictures but were very thrilled knowing they had plenty at home of vacations and/or road trips that could be easily inserted on the pages. The base of all the pages is out of Sahara Sand and other colors used, Marina Mist, Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler and Very Vanilla.

MAY IS SCRAPBOOKING MONTH

Today I am holding my first Scrapbook Class since being here in TX. I'm using the TRAVEL LOG stamp set featured in the new Summer Mini Catalog which came out May 1st and runs through August 31st. I used the Big Shot and Alphabet Simple Letters Dies for the "vacation" lettering.

I decided to scrapbook the last trip my sisters and I took with our Mom to NY some 20+ years ago. Since then, my Mom and oldest sister, have passed. Shortly before we were there, the World Trade Center had been attacked...little did we know what was yet to come....9/11. I treasure the photos that I took of the Twin Towers.
I still have journaling to do but this shows you my first of four layouts that my ladies will be doing.

Basics of Scoring, Cutting and Layering Cardstock

Thursday evening I had my first 101 Class showing my new stampers how to "score" and "cut" cardstock. My upline and BFF, Karen H, shared these layouts with me to use for this class. When I first joined the Stampin'Up! family, I was clueless as to how to layer my paper. So hopefully, the class was worthwhile to my customers as they learned some of the basics.

Stampin'Up! VINTAGE VOGUE Stamp Set

Today's post is the last item that my ladies will be making at my Projects Class later this month. I'm using it as a seed packet but the designer, Carla Brasher, also used it for sachets. To make the project, I used Stampin'Up! Open End Small Envelope and the Vintage Vogue stamp set. Notice the bottom of the envelope has been crimped enabling the top of the envelope to slide over the top easily.

Todays post is one of the items that I'm doing at my "Project Class" later this month ~ a chapstick holder. With the weather being so dry here in TX, chapstick is something you just can't be without.

I used the JUST BELIEVE set to stamp the background, then made the lady bug using the scallop punch. I'm using the Avon decorative chapstick that has a ladybug on it. I will show you the inside of the card tomorrow. Sorry I failed to do that today.

Last night the Welcome Committee in my neighborhood met and put together 7 baskets for new residents. My hubby is in town this week so I wasn't able to spend the time making my normal entry so here's a quick treat I came up with using the FUN FLOWERS die. It's amazing what you can do with a little bit of paper, ribbon, plastic bags and of course, chocolate candy.

It's a fun once a month evening as we get together to put the baskets together and then deliver them to the new residents.

I did add the piece of black cardstock behind the designer series paper as my way of changing them up a bit. In addition to the Love Letter Designer Series Paper, I used Riding Hood Red, Basic Black and Very Vanilla cardstock. The flowers were made using the Fun Flowers Bigz L Die. A Granddaughter Share

Our daughter and son-in-law left Thursday for the Jazz Festival in New Orleans so we've had our 7 year old granddaughter while they've been away. My share with you today is the card Laura made to welcome her Mom and Dad back home.

Of course, the dies are not Stampin'Up! but Laura used SU cardstock, markers, the Big Shot and Decorative Label Punch. I'm so thankful that she enjoys paper crafting as much as I do....she's very creative as you can tell.

Still Celebrating....

What a week I've had; it's Thursday and I'm still celebrating! Here's the bouquet of flowers I received on Monday from my sweet family. This was taken after the 7 year old granddaughter had taken one rose and one carnation.

I received this birthday card from my friend, Bernice M. She used the Springtime Vintage DSP which is one of my very favorites. Thanks Bernie!

Even though Easter is over, I couldn't resist showing this card that I received from another friend, Doris D. This little rabbit is retired but it's one I just can't part with. So many possibilities with this little guy. Thank you Doris. Today I'm lifting up prayers for those affected by the killer tornadoes these last few days. Thank goodness my NC family and friends are OK and not affected.

I love getting cards and sharing with you designs created by my friends. I received this card for my birthday from my upline and BFF, Karen H. Karen used my favorite Sale-A-Bration stamp set, PUNCH BUNCH.

And check out this cake....isn't it beautiful? My neighbor, Diane, baked it for me for my birthday. I hope you will take time to see her other creations at "thatsgoodcake.tripod.com". Diane is so talented. I put the cake in the freezer saving it until we celebrate AGAIN this weekend when my husband is here.

Can't wait to cut into it ~ know it is going to be delicious!

Celebrating the BIG 6 0

Yesterday was my birthday.....the big 6 0!! I had a wonderful day thanks to my family and friends. Life is what you make it and in this season of my life I really try to celebrate"each" day and not just my "birth" day.

Todays share is a birthday card I received from my friend and downline, Donna S. I love the springy colors and design she used. This is a great card to have on hand for any occasion.

Thanks Donna for remembering my special day with such a lovely card.

Stampin'Up! Easter Bunny made out of PUNCHES

Thanks for stopping by.....as you've probably noticed I've been missing for a few days. My sister came to town on Tuesday and returned to the Carolinas Saturday. We got caught up on some "sister time" which was great but I hated to see her go.

Today's share is the bag I made to put our granddaughter's Easter treats in. This picture does not do it justice. These bags are so simple and can be used for any occasion.

The bag is made using a paper lunch sack with cardstock cut a half inch wider than the sack and with the top of the sack cut to the height that you'd like. I CASED the bunny on the top note die from a fellow demonstrator, Connie Babbert. Even though Easter is over maybe this will give you some inspiration for next year. Hope to see you back again soon! Stampin'Up! PAISLEY PETALS Designer Series Paper

Happy Sunday! Today's post is another card using the Paisley Petals designer series paper. This is yet another sample showing that you don't have to have an abundance of stamps to create a very pretty card.....just a little designer paper, cardstock, embellishments and you're ready to go. Stampin'Up! has a promotion each month and for April it's "Spring is Blossoming". This paper along with the Four Frames Stamp Set is being featured this month. I apologize for not posting yesterday ~ it was a busy day with the girls. The church I've been visiting since being in TX held its Annual Easter Egg Hunt and what a great event to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. They had an awesome petting zoo (you can barely see the bunny here that Laura has pinned up to pet), crafts (Shelley is overseeing Laura) and a movie for the kids. Last but not least was the Easter Egg Hunt. Great refreshments were served and each child received a bag with information about programs the Church offers. We had a great time! Stampin'Up! PAISLEY PETALS Designer Series Paper

Thanks for stopping by today! For the next few days I'm going to be sharing with you cards made using the PAISLEY PETALS designer series paper. In addition to the DSP, I used River Rock, Marina Mist and Whisper White cardstock. Stampin'Up! SPRINGTIME VINTAGE DSP (Part 4 of 4)

Today is my VINTAGE CLASS and here's the last of the four cards in this series that my ladies will be making. Once again I'm using the SPRINGTIME VINTAGE DSP. The base of the card is Very Vanilla, layered with Rose Red card stock and then the DSP. The square out of Rose Red card stock is 3 x 3 and the edges have been punched with the Scallop Border punch. Other items used: Scallop Square punch, Vintage Adornments, Seam Binding (not SU) covering a piece of Kraft card stock. Have a great Sunday with family and friends. Stampin'Up! SPRINGTIME VINTAGE DSP & SQUARE LATTICE EMBOSSING FOLDER (Part 3 or 4)

I'm showing today the third card from the four that my ladies will be making in my VINTAGE CLASS tomorrow; again using the SPRINGTIME VINTAGE DSP out of the Occasions Mini Catalog that runs through April 30th. You'll noticed that the piece of DSP was cut using the BIG SHOT and TOP NOTE DIE; the blue behind the DSP was run through the Big Shot using the SQUARE LATTICE Embossing Folder and for the base of the card, I used Very Vanilla cardstock. For the pretty blue flower that embellishes the card, I found instructions on YouTube. Go to YouTube and reference Scallop Circle Flower; the video is by "chris416ward". Other items used: Four Frames and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets AND the Decorative Label Extra-Large Punch.

Stampin'Up! FLOWER FOLDS BIGZ XL DIE

Today's share is a flower that I CASED from penguinstamper.blogspot.com using the Stampin'Up! FLOWER FOLDS die. I made a couple of dozen of these for ladies in my Bible Study group. Yesterday was our last session of our Beth Moore Study of David....Seeking a heart like His. The ladies loved them!

I used pastel jelly beans instead of the pastel M&Ms because there are none to be found in my area...there must be a lot of ladies out there creating. The pastel M&Ms would be my preference but these were certainly a big hit.

Once the flowers were cut out with the Big Shot, I ran them back through the Big Shot using the Texturz Plates. These pictures do not justify the finished product. Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope to see you back here again soon! Have a great SPRING day!
